Language and culture, understood.
Polyglot Connect is an Irish translation, interpreting and intercultural training agency based in Galway and working with clients across the country. We help newcomers, public services and community organisations understand each other, accurately, respectfully and on time.
Why we exist
Ireland has changed. Today, people across Irish and EU hospitals, courts, schools, reception centres and public services speak Pashto, Arabic, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, Kurdish, Georgian and many other languages. Yet, access to qualified professionals in these languages remains limited, even when effective communication is essential.
At Polyglot Connect, we believe that language should never be a barrier to understanding, dignity or opportunity.
Founded to bridge this gap, Polyglot Connect provides professional translation and interpreting services that go beyond words. Whether it is a visa application, a medical consultation, a court hearing or a child’s first day at school, we understand that every conversation matters and that being understood can make a life-changing difference.
Our network of linguists brings together linguistic expertise, cultural awareness and an understanding of the contexts in which communication takes place. We recognise that every individual has a story, every culture has its nuances, and every assignment deserves accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
Our mission is simple: to connect people, overcome language barriers and make communication accessible to everyone.
At Polyglot Connect, we do more than translate words. We help people understand one another.
What makes us different
Language and culture together
Our linguists are native speakers who understand cultural norms, dialects and sensitivities, so meaning is never lost.
Built for public services
We understand how HSE, courts, IPAS centres, schools and NGOs work, and what they need from a language partner: reliability, confidentiality and professionalism.
Accepted the first time
Our certified translations meet the requirements of Irish immigration, courts, NDLS and universities.
Training as well as translation
Through our intercultural training, we help professionals and newcomers build understanding that lasts beyond a single appointment.
Our values
- Accuracy: Every translation is completed by a qualified native linguist and checked before delivery.
- Confidentiality: All personal information is handled in line with GDPR, and every linguist signs a confidentiality agreement.
- Dignity: Every person is treated with respect, whatever their situation.
- Cultural humility: We treat culture as context, never as stereotype.
- Reliability: Clear quotes, honest timelines, and linguists who turn up.
Linguists first
Every translation and every interpreted conversation depends on one person: the linguist. That’s why our team is built around them.
Our linguists are native speakers who grew up inside the languages and cultures they work in. Many share the experience of building a new life in another country. They don’t just know the words. They know the dialect a family speaks at home, the way respect is shown, what can and can’t be said directly, and how to carry meaning faithfully between two worlds.
How we choose our linguists
- Native speakers only. Every linguist works into or from their mother tongue.
- Tested before they work with us. Language, terminology and interpreting skills are assessed before any assignment.
- Matched by dialect, not just language. A Sorani speaker for a Sorani speaker, a Dari interpreter for an Afghan client, not “Persian” in general.
- Specialist by setting. Linguists are matched to medical, legal, educational or social care assignments based on experience.
- Bound by a code of ethics. Accuracy, impartiality and confidentiality in every assignment, with a signed confidentiality agreement and GDPR training.
- Garda vetted where required for work with children and vulnerable adults.
- Supported, not just booked. We brief linguists before difficult assignments and check in after them, because interpreting trauma takes a toll on interpreters too.
